Midas Holdings Limited was incorporated on 17 November 2000 as an investment holding company, with the objective of seeking out viable businesses with growth potential at reasonable valuations. We believe in acquiring businesses where we could be participants in their management, with active involvement in their strategic business directions and expansion plans. Midas Holdings Limited was founded by Mr Patrick Chew Hwa Kwang, who together with Mr Chen Wei Ping sought out business opportunities in the People's Republic of China (PRC). With their extensive knowledge and experience in the PRC markets coupled with a keen eye for investment, they have the ability to sieve out and identify businesses with viable business models and good growth prospects. The two business divisions currently under the Midas Group are the Aluminium Alloy Division and the Polyethylene Pipe Division. Both businesses are located in the PRC, to reap the potential benefits from the vast developments in the PRC infrastructure and transport sectors. Our Aluminium Alloy Division specialises in designing and manufacturing of aluminium alloy extrusion products. Among other uses, these aluminium alloy extrusion products are used in the body frames of high-speed trains and in power stations for power-transmission purposes, electrical energy distribution and power transmission cables. Our Polyethylene Pipe Division specialises in designing, manufacturing and installation of polyethylene pipes for the traditional markets of water and gas networks. The growth in these markets is driven by the infrastructure developments in the PRC. In addition, we have also begun to exploit other markets for polyethylene pipes, namely perforated polyethylene pipes used in landfill projects and our successful development of polyethylene pipes with increased resistance to fire and static electricity.
