Panzhihua Steel produces cheap high aluminum steel

It is reported that Panzhihua Steel has succeeded in producing more than five taps of high aluminum steel 38CrMoAl through the converter-continuous casting route.

The GB/T3077 standard material whose aluminum content is 30 times as much as typical low carbon aluminum killed steel is a kind of nitrided steel that can be used for making pipe billet used by aircrafts, regular weapons and machinery manufacturing, gas cylinder cover for engines as well as screw and sleeve for injection molding machines.

Domestic producers usually turn out 38CrMoAl steel with electric furnaces and casting machines, or even with electro-slag re-melting facilities, a process that is, though costly and low efficient, necessary to reduce the damage caused by the aluminum element to the protective slag of the casting machine.
