On the summit of 2010 China Copper & Co resources forum held recently, the official from China nonferrous Metals Industrial Association said the nonferrous metals industry “ Twelve Fifth” plan under progress will propose to control total production effectively and strictly prohibit copper, lead, zinc smelting projects in some areas without full conditions.

As the future market, the official said it was expected that till 2015 the physical consumption of ten kinds of nonferrous metals would reach 43,800,000 tonnes. Among those, copper took up 8,300,000 tonnes; Aluminum, 24,000,000 tonnes; Lead, 5,000,000 tonnes, Zinc, 6,500,000 tonnes. The plan puts forward that by 2015, the output of ten kinds of nonferrous metals will be controlled within 41,000,000 tonnes, Output of major products: crude copper smelting within 5,000,000 tonnes, electrolytic copper within 6,500,000 tonnes to 7,000,000 tonnes, alumina within 41,000,000 tonnes, electrolytic aluminium within 20,000,000 tonnes, lead smelting within 5,500,000 tonnes, zinc smelting within 6,700,000 tonnes. In Accordance with industrial technology policy, backward capacity will be eliminated.

The official said in the future to combine domestic development and foreign rmineral resources to ensure the support capacity of copper, aluminium, zinc mineral materials reach 40%、80% and 50%. The output ratios of secondary refined copper, secondary aluminium, secondary lead accounting for refined copper, electrolytic aluminum, refined lead in those years reaches respectively more than 40%、30% and 30%.
