Output of ten kinds of nonferrous metals grew 31.3% YoY

The output of ten kinds of nonferrous metals grew 31.3% YoY to 15,290,000 tonnes. Copper production increased 19.4%, with a growth rate increase of 15.5%.

On July 23rd,  Development and Reform Commission website news, in the first half year, the total capacity of ten kinds of nonferrous metals reached 15,290,000 tonnes, with an increase of 31.3% YoY. The output of electrolytic aluminium was 8,190,000 tonnes, with an increase of 45.6%; copper production grew 19.4%, with a increase of 15.5% of growth rate. Lead output decreased 7.1%; Zinc production increased 30.4%. Alumina capacity rose 44.3%.

The prices of major nonferrous metals have rebounded. In June, the average price of domestic copper, electrolytic aluminium, lead and zinc spot were respectively 52,303 yuan per ton, 14,554 yuan per ton, 14,632 yuan per ton and 15,020 yuan per ton, which declined respectively 5.1%¡¢4.6%¡¢4.1% and  9.4%, but with an increase of 28.9%¡¢6.2%¡¢9.2% and 10.9% YoY.

In the first 5 months, the profit of nonferrous industry reached 59.5 billion yuan, which increased 2.4 times YoY, but in 2009 it declined 71% in the same period. The profit of nonferrous metals mining and dressing was 17.5 billion yuan, increased 1.3 times, but in 2009 it declined 52.2% in the same period. The profit of non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing reached 42 billion yuan, which grew 3.3 times, but in 2009 it declined 77.9% in the same period.
