Secondary aluminum supply situation in China

Aluminum scrap has a high recycling value. Aluminum in a kind of metal that is most suitable for being recycled and regenerated. The recycling rate of aluminum is very high in the fields of automobile, construction, electronics and package industry. The rate is between 67~92£¥. It was reported that the recycling rate of Brazil beverage cans was up to 85%.

With the rapid growth of our primary aluminum consumption, the storage of primary aluminum is continuously rising. Calculated from 1990 to 2004, total consumption of primary aluminum in China reached about 40,000,000 tons. The above suggested that the potential of scrap recycling in China is big.

Chinese scrap has almost been recycled. China is the world’s largest recycling rate country. All that seen as goods are collected, sorted out and sold. Chinese government has been paying much attention on recycling, regenerating and using scrap. China has set large recycling system and network from central to local, form urban to rural areas.
In 2002, the output of secondary aluminum exceeded 1500,000 tons. Seen from the regions, distribution centers for aluminum scrap and industry bases for secondary aluminum are concentrated in coastal areas.
Chinese secondary aluminum is under structural adjustment, which will be finished before or after 2010. Till then a secondary aluminum enterprises with production capacity of more than 50000 tons per year will have been formed. Before 2010, the annually average growth rate of our aluminum scrap recycling was 6%, while after 2010, it will reach 8%, as the consumed aluminum products since 1980s will continue into the replacement period.
