    Aluminum Corporation of China Holds Talks on Aluminum Cooperation with Jamaican Government

    Jamaica,April,14-----Jamaica premier will hold talks on aluminum copperation with the delegate of Aluminum corporation of China next Monday. It was reported that Chalco had interest in Aluminum resource investment and development of Jamaica. It was considering to purchase 51% shares of Noranda Alumina Co.,Ltd owned by Jamaican government. The rest 49% shares would be owned by Noranda Aluminum Co.,Ltd. It was estimated the total capital of this deal was around 1.5 billion yuan. The talks will also touch upon the reform program on energy upgrade of Jamaica Alumina Co.,Ltd. Jamaica plans to replace long-term use of oil with much clear and cheaper gas, hoping to provide energy for alumina plants through building liquefied natural gas floating platforms. At present there have been 4 companies from Korea,Norway, Belgium bidding for this project. According to media, a Chinese trading company Hongfan recently bought 45% shares of Jamalco, which is another alumina company owned by Jamaican government. The annual alumina output of Jamalco was1400,000tons and its another 55% shares were owned by Alcoa.
