Farriers can save time and money with NorZon sanding belts, now distributed exclusively to the farrier industry by Quabaug, exclusive North American manufacturing licensee for Vibram. In response to consumer demand, Quabaug is introducing sanding belts that grind aluminum without clogging. A softer metal than steel, aluminum is notorious for loading the belt when sanding. Due to innovative engineering in grain orientation, the new BlueFire belts are able to shed aluminum and virtually eliminate hand rasping of aluminum and steel shoes. In addition to the BlueFire belts, also ideal for steel, plastic and other materials, Quabaug offers NorZon Plus belts for farriers who do not utilize aluminum in their practice.

“Traditionally, farriers have had to resort to rasping aluminum shoes by hand,” explained Kevin Donahue, Jr., sales and marketing, Vibram Hoof Pads at Quabaug. “BlueFire sanding belts will increase productivity, enabling farriers to shoe more horses in less time with less effort.”

NorZon abrasive belts feature a superior backing and the latest in resin and grinding additive technology that improves the quality and speed of buffing and sanding while minimizing loading. The self-sharpening zirconia belts also feature a long life and can be reversed, reducing the number of belts a farrier needs to buy and store. The BlueFire model is suited for aluminum, steel and other materials. In addition, for those that don’t work on aluminum, there is the NorZon Plus a model designed for steel, plastic, and other materials.

“As far as quality, there is no comparison. They are the finest quality, longest lasting belts I have ever tried,” said Nicholas B. Denson of Denson’s Farrier Service in Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts.

The NorZon belts are sold in boxes of 10 and come in three sizes and multiple grits:

    • 10" expander wheel belt, in 24, 40 and 60 grit

    • 2" x 36" belt, in 24, 40 and 80 grit

    • 2" x 48" belt, in 24, 40 and 80 grit
