    China's Copper and Aluminum Prices Fluctuate in Jan-Sept

    BEIJING, Asia Pulse - China's copper and aluminum prices posted upward and downward trend in the first three quarters of 2007, according to the latest report by the National Development and Reform Commission.


     


    The average price of electrolyte copper stood at 62,714 yuan ton (US$8,361/ton), up 2,249 yuan or 3.7 per cent year-on-year.


     


    Electrolyte copper price in the first two months of this year maintained a declining trend from the fourth quarter of 2006, and recorded hikes in March-April.


     


    After a slight drop in May-June, electrolyte copper price began to rebound to reach 65,461 yuan/ton in September.


     


    The electrolyte aluminum price in January-September averaged 19,967 yuan/ton, dipping 134 yuan or 0.7 per cent from a year-ago.


     


    Similarly, electrolyte aluminum price continued dropping during the first quarter and rebounded substantially in April-May followed by a four-month long slide.


     


    In September, the price of electrolyte aluminum was 19,326 yuan/ton, down 2,045 yuan or 9.6 per cent from December 2006.
