Dec. 15, 2009 (Chinavestor) - U.S.-based financial holding company Morgan Stanley has raised its shareholding in Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (Chalco) (SHA:601600) (HKG:2600) (NYSE:ACH) to 5.83% from 5.77% on Dec. 11, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) (HKG:0388).
HKEx said in a statement that Morgan Stanley has acquired 4.303 million H-shares in Chalco. The price of the share transaction was not discolsed.
Part of such institutional interest comes from China's strong GDP growth lifting demand for metals, aluminum included. China's auto industry produced over 1 million vehicles in 2009 while infrastructure related investment is at records as well.
H-shares of Chalco rose 0.34% to end at HK$8.81on Tuesday.
