The real consumption of primary aluminum in China, the world's top consumer and producer of the metal is expected to rise 8.7% to around 13.8 million tonnes in 2009.
Mr Li Yang an analyst at state backed research group Antaike said that Antaike has revised up the consumption estimate from 12.5 million tonnes made in July and 11.8 million tonnes made in January due to strong demand from the building and car sectors.
The latest estimate suggests a 10.5% rise from the prediction in July and 16.9% increase from the January forecast.
Mr Li said that the best performer has been the building sector. He added that the sector took up around 40 per cent of the total consumption in China.
