According to the analysis of experts, in recent years, technology facilities of alumina plants built in China has been among world advanced level, meanwhile goes on beneficial trial to do further research on alumina plant technology development and comprehend technology home and abroad.
Through 10 years of development, alumina technology facilities have made a steady progress, bauxite technology facility in particular reaches international advanced level.
By the end of 2005, Chalco is able to produce alumina 7.87 million tons and electrolyze aluminum 2.1 million tons, enabling it to be the third aluminum company only after Alcoa and Alcan. Chalco currently has formed complete aluminum industry layout, and its alumina and electrolyze aluminum output remain balanced.
At the same time, due to rapid development of domestic economy and great demand for aluminum in the market, so far domestic alumina has certain price advantages on raw materials, motivity and manpower, consequently there’s a big space to explore oversea recourses and build plants. However, as a kind of high-silica diasporite, China bauxite consumes more energy than that of foreign countries, and still remain space for energy saving and lower consumption.
