Alcoa adds shine to Chinalco (02600)

The US aluminium-maker Alcoa has announced a surprise profit after three consecutive quarterly losses. Thus, its stocks rose

more than 5% at the close of U.S. stocks.

At the same time, stimulated by the news, the Chinalco (02600) surged 4.6% to 9.16 yuan, now the price is lingered at 9.06

yuan, and temporary closed at more than 100 million yuan.

according to the BBC News, the company said it had benefited from an increase in aluminium prices and cost savings.

The price of aluminium has risen 16% to $1,890 per tonne in the last three months.

Its results are being watched closely for any sign of economic recovery.
