Within one or two years, the expanded electrolytic aluminum production capacity and new capacity will be gradually put into operation, and the Middle East region will become a major aluminum production and trading center.
Electrolytic aluminum production in the Middle East region in 1980 accounted for only 1% of world aluminum production, but the number increased to more than 5% till now, and in 2020, it is predicted that the number will rise to the expected target of 10%. In order to achieve this target, a new electrolytic aluminum company was put into production in 2008. In the following 3 years, more production capacity amounted 200ton/year will be put into production. At the same time another production capacity of 300 tons / year is under the plan.
Till 2007, there are three large electrolytic aluminum plants in this region; there are Bahrain Aluminium with 840000tons of production capacity, Dubai Aluminium with 890000tons of production capacity and Egypt Alum with 265000tons of production capacity. All the three company have announced that they will make all their efforts to improve the aluminium output.
