Chinalco raises alumina price more than 4%

China's largest alumina producer Chinalco raised its benchmark alumina prices by over 4% in the wake of a recent improvement in spot market prices. Chinalco's alumina price is quoted at 2,400 yuan ($351) per tonne, up 100 yuan or 4.3% from the previous offer which had been unchanged for four months. "Chinalco's price adjustment confirms the market growth in recent months and at the same time fuels the optimistic sentiment of market participants.
