According to the news from Urumqi, in June 2, 2009, identified by the State Ministry of Science and Technology, Urumqi is crowned as the national non-ferrous metals industry base of new materials.
The non-ferrous metal industry in Urumqi plan to achieve sales revenue of 20 billion yuan till 2015.
According to introduction of the Director of city's comprehensive plan department Wangkegang in science and technology bureau, there will be a new alloy material, high pure materials, non-ferrous metals industrial base,，which is centered in Urumqi. It will stimulate the development of the development of Aletai Industrial Park, non-ferrous and rare metals Industrial Park, and non-ferrous metals Hami Industrial Park. Gradually, it will promote the development of non-ferrous Industrial in Xinjiang.
