June 23, Mumbai : India Ministry of Finance claim in a statement Tuesday that it will slap a tariff of 14% from China's imported flat-rolled aluminum products.

The tariff policy can be traced back to March 23 and will be valid till March 22, 2010.

Ministry of Finance indicates that the imports from China have already threatened the disruption of domestic production of aluminum industry.

The statement shows that aluminum foil imported from China will be imposed 30% protective tariffs, valid date is from March 23 to March 22, 2010.

A company's analysts said that it might contribute to high value-added manufacturer of aluminum, instead of primary aluminum producer.

This analyst who did not wish to be named said, "Hindalco and Sterlite Aluminum will obviously benifit from this policy, but the imports from other countries will increase of the same."

Till March 31, India was likely to import more than 300,000 tons of aluminum.
