Hongkong June 8: China, the largest consumer of copper in the world would slide in may on import of non-processed copper and simi-processed products after the record high in April due to the decreased demand from terminal clients.

Import of refined copper in May was predicted to exceeding 300,000 tons to the 2nd highest position after the record of 317,947 tons set in April as affected by persistent arbitrage and state reserve.

Import of aluminium, including primary aluminium, alloy and semi-finished products, has been sliding from the record high of April caused by down of import profit.

Import of primary aluminium was 200,000-250,000 tons in May and 362,400 tons in April.

Meanwhile, China is the largest consumer of aluminium in the world. It is going to declare import data of May around June 11; while the data of refined copper and primary aluminium will be announced by the end of June.

Manager of a large trading company said that import of refined copper reached the pink in April, and in May, the number was still large of not lower than 300,000 tons.

The Customs will announce detailed report late this month after publish of import data of non-processed copper, semi-finished aluminium and semi-finished products of May on June 11.
