Chinese copper, aluminum imports increase in March

Chinese copper imports reached a record high in March while the Asian nation's imports of aluminum products surged nearly 145 percent month on month thanks to arbitrage trading fueled by rising liquidity in Chinese financial markets.

China imported 374,957 tonnes of unwrought copper and copper-fabricated products in March, up 13.8 percent month on month and 55.8 percent higher year on year, preliminary figures from China's General Administration of Customs show.
