    Chinese stocks up 0.16% in morning session

    Chinese stocks ended slightly higher in the morning trading session on Thursday led by banks.


    The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A shares and B shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, added 0.16% or 3.59 points to close at 2,295.15 points in the morning session.


    The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange edged down 0.94% or 82.33 points to stand at 8,673.93 points.


    Market heavy weight PetroChina<601857><857><PTR>, the nation's top oil producer, dropped 1.56% to close at RMB 11.39, while Asia's largest oil refiner, Sinopec<600028><386><SNP> declined 1.59% to close at RMB 8.68.


    Boosted by the news that the Chinese government aims to build Shanghai into an international financial and shipping center, Shanghai Haibo Co Ltd<600708> jumped 10.06% to RMB 7.33. Shanghai International Port (Group) <600018>surged 10.25% to RMB 4.94. Shanghai Jin Jiang International Industrial Investment Co<600650><900914> added 5.55% to RMB 11.98.


    Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone<600663><900932> rose 3.55% to RMB 1.28 on the Shanghai Disney theme park report.
