Reported on Aug. 16th, the price of China’s alumina after tax drops to 3,550-3,600 Yuan/ton, declining 50-100Yuan/ton compared with early this month.
A trader of Beijing said that aluminum plants still have a great demand for alumina, while the only problem is continuous growth of supply.
A person with inside information said that leading alumina plants like Weiqiao and Zhuangping will try to maintain base price at 3,500 Yuan/ton to prevent price decline.
An official from Weiqiao said, the price of alumina is 3,550Yuan/ton, and there’s still a great demand for alumina at the second half year of 2007 due to lacking clear evidence to prove price decline.
Annalist from Shanghai has different opinion and shows the price of alumina will be continuously dropping.
