    Hang Seng Index up 0.24% on Thu

    Hong Kong stocks rose slightly on Thursday, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index rising 37.29 points or 0.24% to close at 15,497.81.


    Mainboard turnover rose to HK$52.34 billion. 


    Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, edged up 182.8 points to 8,555.06 points.


    Market heavyweight HSBC Holdings Plc<5><HBC>, which accounts for the largest weighting of the Hang Seng Index, shed 3.43% to HK$81.60.


    Another market heavyweight China Mobile<941><CHL>, the largest firm by capitalization in the Hong Kong market, plunged 0.47% to HK$84.30.


    Sun Hung Kai Properties<16> added 3.27% to HK$70.95. Cheung Kong<1> dropped 1.36% to HK$79.40, while Hopson Development<754> rose 13.55% to HK$6.20.


    Offshore oil producer CNOOC<883><CEO> lost 5.25% to HK$7.58. Sinopec<600028><386><SNP>, Asia's largest oil refiner added 0.38% to HK$5.16, while PetroChina<601857><857><PTR>, the country's largest oil producer and also involved in refining business, ended 0.69% higher at HK$7.25.


    Aluminum Corp of China (Chalco)<601600><2600><ACH>, the country's largest aluminum producer, climbed 2.86% to close at HK$5.02.


    China Construction Bank (CCB)<601939><939> was up 0.65% to HK$4.63, while the nation's largest lender Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)<601398><1398> edged up 2.79% to HK$4.42.


    Top insurer China Life Insurance<601628><2628><LFC> gained 2.82% to HK$25.50, while smaller rival Ping An Insurance<601318><2318> surged 4.51% to HK$40.55.
