Codelco eyeing investment opportunities in China

Interfax China reported that Codelco, a Chilean state-owned copper smelter, has created a new department at its Shanghai office to seek out and manage investment opportunities in China. An of Codelco said that it aims to develop various types of project in China, including exploration and mining projects, in collaboration with Chinese partners. She declined to further comment on such plans.
An official with Dongying Fangyuan, while launching the department, added that Codelco also entered into cooperation framework agreements with two privately owned copper smelters based in China's eastern Shandong Province, namely Dongying Fangyuan Nonferrous Metals Co Ltd and Yantai Penghui Copper Co. Ltd.
