    China's industrial value-added output up 8.2% in Oct

    China's industrial value-added output in October grew 8.2% year-on-year, and the growth rate is 9.7 percentage points lower from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Thursday.


    Several industries have greatly contributed to the output gains. For instance, output of textile sectors posted a year-on-year increase of 7.8%, and that of chemicals and chemical products was up 2.7%, non-ferrous mineral products output rose 13.8%.


    In terms of major products, crude coal and oil totaled 220 million tons and 16.35 million tons respectively during the period, with a year-on-year growth of 9.2% and 3.9%, while electricity generation fell 4% to 264.5 billion kilowatt hours (kWh).


    Meanwhile, output of crude steel, raw iron and steel products dropped 16.8%, 17% and 12.4% from a year earlier to 34.13 million tons, 35.9 million tons and 42.93 million tons respectively.


    In addition, cement output was 120 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 1.1%, while that of auto fell 0.7% to 730,000 units with sedans up 6.2% to 417,000 units.


    In October, China's sale-to-production ratio was 97.4%, down 0.78 percentage points from a year ago. Export shipments amounted to RMB 708.9 billion, up 6.8% over the same period of last year.


    During the first ten months of this year, China's industrial value-added output went up 14.4% from a year ago.
