China’s output of primary aluminium may stop growing next year, predicted a Government Advisory Body on Thursday.
Wang Feihong, analyst of Antaike Information Development Co., Ltd said on China Mining Conference that China’s output of primary aluminium may reach 3700000 tons, and the trend of growing will stop in 2009 after excessive years of expansion.
Zero growth never appeared before, he said.
Price of primary aluminium is predicted to come below production cost in 2009, limited by the slowed economy development, Wang added.
The international market has been profited from China’s primary aluminium market without which the former would be tracked in a much earlier time. Other countries may further cut their output as the global demand is weakening.
Wang Feihong said, China accounts for about 60% of the worlds aluminium consumption.
