Metro Mining's third quarter report for 2022 shows that the company's bauxite production in the third quarter was 1.133 million tons, an increase of 24% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 2.9%.
Bauxite shipments in the third quarter were 1.07 million tons, up 26% from the previous quarter, but down 2% year-on-year.
The company expects bauxite shipments to be 3.6-3.7 million tons in 2022, with a target of 5 million tons in 2023.
On June 29, Metro's board of directors approved to expand the production capacity of the bauxite mine from 4 million tons per year to 7 million tons, an increase of 75%, with financing.
Expansion planning, design and procurement activities progressed during the quarter and are expected to be completed in 2023. Source:
