A few days ago, Rio Tinto Group and Volvo Group signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation. Under the agreement, Rio Tinto will provide Volvo with responsible low-carbon products and solutions, and the two parties will also strive to decarbonize Rio Tinto's business by piloting Volvo Group's sustainable autonomous transport solutions.
As a leading global mining and metals company, Rio Tinto will advance its commitment to sustainability in its business and supply chain through this multi-material partnership. The partnership will also support the Volvo Group, one of the world's largest transport and infrastructure suppliers, in its goal of achieving net zero emissions. The partnership aims to secure the supply of lithium, low-carbon aluminum, copper and other metallic materials.
Rio Tinto Group CEO Jakob Stausholm said: “We look forward to working with Volvo and contributing to advancing a zero-carbon future.
