    The US exports of aluminium scrap surge 11% YoY in ten months; Exports to India up by 32%

    The US exported 157,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap in October 2019, from 164,000 tonnes exported in October 2018. This records an increase of 4.27% year-on-year, according to the latest report from the US Geological Survey. Exports increased by 1.29% from September’s export volume of 155,000 tonnes but dropped by 4.85% from August export volume of 165,000 tonnes.


    Aluminium scrap exports stood at 1.57 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2019, which was a 10.56% increase from 1.42 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2018.


    The US exported 20,300 tonnes of aluminium scrap to India in October 2019. Exports reduced by 20.39% or 5,200 tonnes year-on-year and 4.25% or 900 tonnes month-on-month. The US had exported 25,500 tonnes and 21,200 tonnes in October 2018 and September 2019, respectively. Compared with August, aluminium scrap export volume dropped by 17.48% from 24,600 tonnes.


    In January-October 2019, the US exported 217,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap to India, from 164,000 tonnes exported in January-October 2018. This marks an increase of 32.32% or 53,000 tonnes year-on-year.
