    The US aluminium semi-finished exports fell 16% YoY in Jan-Sept

    The US exports of aluminium semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) stood at 71,500 tonnes in September, a decrease of 6.17% from 76,200 in September 2018. On a month on month comparison, the export volume reduced by 3.64% from August total of 74,200 tonnes, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from the US Geological Survey.

    Exports of aluminium semi-finished products came in at 668,000 tonnes in the nine months, representing a drop of 16.08% or 128,000 tonnes year-on-year. The US had exported 796,000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2018.

    The US exports of total aluminium (crude metal and alloys, aluminium semi-finished products and scrap) in September edged higher by 1.67% year-on-year. Exports volume increased from 240,000 tonnes as compared to 244,000 tonnes. Total aluminium exports by the US fell 5.79% from August’s exports of 259,000 tonnes.

    The US exported 2.26 million tonnes of total aluminium in the first nine months of 2019, from 2.28 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2018. Export was slightly down by 0.88% year-on-year.
