    US aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports in September slipped by 8.69% M-o-M

    According to the United States Aluminium Survey, the country in September imported 105,000 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars, down by 8.69 per cent from 115,000 tonnes in August. In June and July, US imports came in at 131,000 tonnes and 117,000 tonnes, representing the fact that its import volume had been incessantly declining month-on-month. In July, the US aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports dropped by 10.68 per cent M-o-M, while that in August inched down by 1.70 per cent.

    The United States total aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports in the first nine months of the year totalled at 1.15 million tonnes, compared with 1.05 million tonnes during the same period last year. This represents the total import amount from January to September this year stood down by 9.52 per cent year on year.

    Canada was the highest exporter of aluminium plates, sheets and bars to the US in September, providing 18,300 tonnes, followed by Oman, which supplied 8,460 tonnes. Both the export amount was up month-on-month by 8.28 per cent and 35 per cent from 16,900 tonnes and 6,270 tonnes respectively in August.
