Aluminium production in North America and South America up by 2% and 7% MoM in October

North America’s primary aluminium production dropped by 2.17% year-on-year to 316,000 tonnes in October 2019. Aluminium output increased by 1.94% from 310,000 tonnes in September but declined by 1.56% from 321,000 tonnes in August.
Primary aluminium production in the first ten months of 2019 stood 1.5% higher than the same period last year. Total output came in at 3.174 million tonnes as compared to 3.127 million tonnes, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).
Aluminium production in North America came in at 3.774 million tonnes in 2018, IAI data showed.
South America’s primary aluminium production totalled 101,000 tonnes in October as compared to 93,000 tonnes in the corresponding period the previous year. This marked an increase of 8.6% year-on-year. The output rose by 7.45% from September and 6.32% from August.
Primary aluminium production declined from 983,000 tonnes in January-October 2018 to 888,000 tonnes in January-October 2019. That was down 9.66% year-on-year.
South America’s primary aluminium production for 2018 stood at 1.164 million tonnes, IAI data showed.
