According to the global export-import data, France is expected to be the leading destinations for Germany’s aluminium cans export in 2019. The available data shows that France is likely to secure 19,454 tonnes of aluminium cans this year, an increase of 34 per cent from 14,561 tonnes in 2018. In 2016 and 2017, Germany’s export to France stood at 8,568 tonnes and 11,549 tonnes respectively, up 35 per cent year on year. From 2017 to 2018, Germany’s aluminium cans export to France grew by 26 per cent, as shown by the available data.
The Netherlands, however, which is another important destination for Germany’s aluminium cans export, is expected to secure a lesser amount of aluminium cans this year, compared with the previous year. In 2018, Germany exported 15,518 tonnes to the Netherlands, but this year the country is estimated to export 12,113 tonnes, down 22 per cent. The export amount in 2018 was also down by 12 per cent from 17,577 in 2017. In 2016, Germany’s aluminium cans export to the Netherlands was at 13,858 tonnes, which represents the fact that the export amount grew in 2017 by 27 per cent year-on-year.
Now coming to the export value, Germany’s aluminium cans export cost to France is likely to remain flat this year at US$65 million, despite a notable growth in estimated export volume. In 2018, while the export volume was high as well from the previous year, the value dropped 12 per cent year on year. In 2017, however, the value rose in tandem with the export amount by 45 per cent from US$ 51 million in 2016 to US$ 74 million.
Germany’s aluminium cans export value to the Netherlands, on the other hand, is likely to stand down this year from US$48 million in 2018 to US$40 million, as a consequence of the expected decline in export amount. But in 2018, the export cost rose from US$47 million to US$48 million, despite a decline in export volume. In 2017 the value rose as well from US$38 million to US$47 million.
