Tenova TAKRAF completes performance test for bauxite-carrying trains at CBG expansion project in Guinea

Tenova TAKRAF, an integrated solutions provider to the global mining, bulk material handling and minerals processing sector says that a 48-hour performance test is successfully completed for bauxite-carrying trains in Kamsar, Guinea on July 1.
Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) has started a a production expansion project at its bauxite mine in Kamsar, Guinea in order to increase bauxite exports to 18.5 million tonne per annum. During the 48-hour period, more than 1,560 wagons, equal to the weight of 12 individual complete trains, carrying bauxite were successfully unloaded.

TAKRAF’s successful delivery of this important project is an important reference for us in and is a true testament of our ability to operate in complex environments, overcome challenges and deliver!”
TAKRAF was given an engineering, procurement and construction contract worth around €100 million ($112 million) in 2016. The company was responsible for building a Greenfield railcar unloading and primary crushing station, as well as a secondary crushing station and a brownfield conveyor system at the Kamsar project. They designed the railcar unloading system in collaboration with Ashton Bulk.
TAKRAF also designed tow sizers, one primary and two secondary for the crushing stations at the project. CBG achieved its first ore goal in the bauxite expansion project in February 2019.
