    US exports of semi-finished products down 21% YoY, but up 3.8% MoM in March

    In March 2019, the US exports of aluminium semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) came in at 75,800 tonnes, down 21.21 per cent from 96,200 in March 2018. On a month on month comparison, the export volume increased 3.84 per cent from the February export volume of 73,000 tonnes, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from US Geological Survey.

    In the first three months of 2019, aluminium semi-finished products export stood at 226,000 tonnes, as compared to 270,000 tonnes in the first three months of 2018. This indicates a drop of 44000 tonnes year-on-year.

    Exports to Canada stood at 27,300 tonnes in March 2019. In the first three months of 2019, exports came in at 84,200 tonnes, from 107,000 tonnes in the first three months of 2018. 

    The US exports to Mexico and China stood at 33,600 tonnes and 2,330 tonnes in March 2018. During three months period, Exports to Mexico and China stood at 99,600 tonnes and 5,820 tonnes.
