STAS acquires SERMAS Industrie from France

STAS Inc. announces through a press release that the company, a high-technology equipment supplier for the global aluminum industry based in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada, has acquired SERMAS Industrie, located in St Quentin Sur Isère, near Grenoble in France and which employs around forty employees.

World leader in the sawing of large materials for the aluminum industry, SERMAS Industrie develops a complete range of equipment for the manufacture of cast aluminum products:

• Complete sawing equipment for ingots, billets and aluminum T-bars including handling,
weighing, marking and chip processing;
• Milling machines for the manufacture of cast or rolled aluminum plates;
• Sealing benches to produce cathodic blocks used in electrolysis pots;
• Anode preparation equipment;
• Sawing equipment for copper bars, carbon blocks and graphite

The success of SERMAS results from its ability to provide equipment that meets the real needs of the sector. SERMAS Industrie was established in 1972 and has been active in the aluminum industry since 1983. More than 500 Sermas units are in operation around the world.

Through this acquisition and the implementation of broad synergies, STAS wishes to realize its vision of becoming a key player for the aluminum industry by offering turnkey, reliable and robust solutions to its customers: aluminum smelters, rolling mills, extrusion plants, forging plants, recyclers, distribution centers and the carbon industry.
