    China’s NEV sales, production up 18% and 25% in April: CAAM

    As updated by Shanghai Metals Market, sales of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) in China increased 18.1 per cent year-on-year in April. Sales stood at 97,000 NEVs. NEVs include pure electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs. Production rose 25 per cent year-on-year to 102,000 NEVs, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

    In April, sales of pure electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid EVs increased 9.6 per cent year-on-year and 50.9 per cent year-on-year to stand at 71,000 units and 26,000 units, CAAM said on Monday, May 13.

    Fuel cell vehicle sales recorded only 7 units in April, down 87.5 per cent year-on-year, and production declined 84.5 per cent to 9 units.

    Retail sales of sedans, sport utility vehicles, minivans, and multi-purpose vehicles dropped 16.6 per cent year-on-year in April, showed data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Friday, May 10. Sales stood at 1.54 million units last month.
