The Middle East country Oman with a promising downstream aluminium manufacturing base is projected to extend a growth in aluminium bar rods and profiles export this year. According to our third-party data, Oman has been seeing a rise in aluminium bar rods and profiles export since 2016 and this year is expected not to show any exception. In 2016 the estimated export amount was at 26,004 per tonnes, which in the next year had grown to 30,342 tonnes, up 17 per cent. The country further extended its amount of aluminium bar rods and profiles export in 2018, totalling at 36,902, 22 per cent higher than the year ago. The global export-import data forecasts that this year the export volume is likely to grow 12.19 per cent year-on-year to peg at 41,403 tonnes.
In consequence of the rise in Oman’s year-on-year rise in export volume, the value also found growing. From US$37 million in 2016, the county’s aluminium bar rods and profiles export value saw a sweeping growth to US$83 million, up 124 per cent. In 2018, the country had experienced a dip in export value to US$77 million, despite a growth in volume. However, this year, Oman is projected to yield higher revenue from the export, totalling at US$82 million, up 6.49 per cent from 2018.
Oman is expected to export the largest share of its aluminium bar rods and profiles to the United Arab Emirates in 2019, followed by Bahrain. To the UAE, Oman is likely to ship around 30,381 tonnes and to Bahrain around 9188 tonnes, according to the available data. In 2018, the country had exported 27,094 tonnes to the UAE and 7,358 tonnes to Bahrain. This indicates that Oman’s aluminium bar rods and profiles export to these two countries will likely increase 12 per cent and 25 per cent, respectively.
