    India’s Jan aluminium exports to USA up 21% YoY; semi-finished records 54% increase

    India’s total aluminium export to the USA increased 21 per cent year-on-year to stand at 23,700 tonnes in January 2019. Aluminium export was 19,600 tonnes in January 2018. The country’s total aluminium imports including scrap from the USA soared 113 per cent year-on-year to stand at 18,200 tonnes, as updated by US Census Bureau.

    Aluminium semi-finished products export to the USA stood at 5,050 tonnes in January 2019, up 54 per cent from 3,290 tonnes in January 2018, and increased 5.4 per cent month-on-month from 4,790 tonnes in December 2018.

    Import of aluminium semi-finished products from the USA jumped 109.3 per cent from a year ago to stand at 180 tonnes in January 2019, while imports declined 46 per cent month-on-month.

    India’s aluminium scraps import from the USA increased from 8,450 tonnes in January 2018 to 18,000 tonnes in January 2019. This indicates a rise of 113 per cent or 9,550 tonnes year-on-year. On month on month comparison, total import volume decreased 17 per cent from the December 2018 import volume of 21,600 tonnes.
