Australian Bauxite Limited had produced 31,600 tonnes of bauxite from its Bald Hill mine as reported on Monday 9 April. With this, the company has achieved the target of 30,000 to 33,000 of cement-grade bauxite 3 weeks before the contract date of 1 May 2019.

Production still continues at the Bald Hill Bauxite Project and the total production is expected to cross 33,000 tonnes by the end of this week. Trucks have already delivered 31,600 tonnes to the port stockpile at Bell Bay. The volume is now loaded at the port and deliveries are ready to be shipped.

Shipping plans are also advanced and the shipped are expected to arrive a week earlier than planned. Plans are underway to achieve a maximum shipment of 33,000 tonnes, subject to berth and tide conditions.

Additional product stockpiles of fertiliser-grade bauxite, cement-grade bauxite and sizeable stockpiles of ALCORE refinery-grade bauxite have also arrived at the port. The refinery-grade bauxite samples will be supplied to the ALCORE Research Centre in Berkeley Vale, where it will be refined into Aluminium Fluoride for evaluation.

Bald Hill Bauxite Project in Tasmania has the potential to supply ALCORE refinery-grade bauxite at marginal cost for several years, provided it is required by the refinery in Bell Bay, Tasmania.

Binjour project will see maximum bauxite production during the dry season from April to November. ABx's bauxite mines in Tasmania achieve optimum production from November to May. ABx's marketing partner, Rawmin has bauxite mines in north-western India that registers limited production during monsoon months June to September.

The bauxite from Bald Hill mines requires high temperature refining.
