Hydro has updated on the progress of its recovery processes in last week after the cyber-attack that created disruptions in its operations on March 19. The Press Release says that the cyber-attack has affected some administrative processes, including systems for reporting, billing and invoicing.

As for production processes are concerned, most of the business operations are back to normal or reaching the normal level. However, the company insists that the process is complex and time consuming despite all the sincere efforts on behalf of the company and the solution providers.

“The process to recover safely from this sophisticated attack is complex and time-consuming. We are making good progress, but it will take time to get fully back to normal IT operations,” says Hydro’s Chief Financial Officer, Eivind Kallevik.

He also appreciated the understanding and patience extended by the suppliers, customers and business partners during the difficult times and promised to get back to normal operations as soon as possible. The company is working towards limiting the damage to its stakeholders to the minimum.

Currently operations at Energy, Bauxite & Alumina, Primary Metal and Rolled Products division are running as normal with manual assistance.

In the Extruded Solutions business, production is running at an average output of 90 per cent in the three business units of Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America and Precision Tubing. However, the extent of operations varies from plant to plant in the local level and maintenance works are still undergoing. In the Building Systems unit; which saw the maximum damage, operations are currently running at around 75 per cent.
