Once again, Canyon Resources Ltd. has reportedly identified a world-class high-grade bauxite zone within its Minim Martap project in Cameroon. The last time when Canyon had found a cluster of high-grade, low-containment bauxite trend within the same project was in November 2018.

The recently-found high-grade inferred resource zone is of 250.9 million tonnes at 50.8 per cent aluminium oxide and 1.9 per cent silicon dioxide.

Additionally, over 50 per cent of the area drilled for the resource grades is of more than 50 per cent aluminium oxide with 1.3 per cent silica.

Canyon believes than Minim Martap is one of the world’s highest grade bauxite resources with low silica.

Alexander Shaw, the chief geologist of Canyon, said, “By conducting a more detailed assessment of the historic resource, we have identified significant areas with very high-grade aluminium oxide and low total and reactive silica on all of the Minim Martap licence plateaux.”

He further said the company would use the information generated from the resource analysis to assist with developing fresh drill targets to uncover new high-grade zones at the project.

While the drilling has already started, about 157 holes have been completed for 1,556m by now, with samples currently under analysis.

Development estimates for the project range between US$200 million and $1 billion

Canyon has also decided to carry out drilling at untested bauxite plateaux that have been noted on the Minim Martap and Makan permits.
