    MoEFCC to examine Nalco’s application for its Pottangi bauxite mine

    National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has submitted an application for environmental clearance with the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) for its bauxite mine in Pottangi, Odisha.

    The expert committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change will examine Nalco’s application on January 19, 2018.

    The Pottangi bauxite mine will have an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes. The bauxite mine with 75 million tonnes of reserve will supply company’s refinery of one million tonne capacity at Damanjodi.

    The company will source bauxite from its Panchpatmalli South bauxite mine till Pottangi mine gets operational.  Panchpatmalli south bauxite mine with cost of INR 600 crore has a capacity of 3.1 million tonnes per annum.
