Figeac Aero has won its first contract from Boeing as a supplier of large structural aluminium parts for the 777X. It will supply the wing component measured 4 m (13 ft.) long, 1 m wide and 0.15 m thick. The manufacturing processes will be streamlined at its headquarters in Figeac, France. However, the production will take place at Figeac Aero’s Wichita, Kansas, factory in the United States because its surface treatment methods are approved by Boeing. This is confirmed by a Figeac Aero spokesperson.

Operating since 1989, the Figeac Aero group specializes in the design of metal parts for aviation including steel aluminium and magnesium. Nearly 30 years after its creation, the group has won a new recognition with the signing of a contract with Boeing. They are the first French company to supply a North American aircraft manufacturer with aluminium structures and contribute to the manufacturing of 777X.  The company expects to deliver its first structural parts in 2018.

Figeac Aero started operating in North America in 2014 by acquiring a production site in Wichita and creating a sales office in Dallas.  Being a direct supplier to Boeing is expected to boost the company’s goal of achieving a turnover of 650 million euros by 2020.
