China is the largest aluminium market in the world, which, experts pointed out, would be in depression only if cutting aluminium smelting to half in the following months.
However, few aluminium smelters in China has planned to cut the output despite the price fall to a 4-year low.
In the Conference held in Chongqing in recent days, officials of aluminium industry said that smelters should cut their output to rescue the low aluminium price.
Smelting capability has been developing constantly in recent years with primary aluminium output reaching 8.9 million ton annually for the first eight months of 2008, a 13% up year-on-year. Aluminium output of this year, it is predicted, to reach 14.5 million tons.
