Sohar Aluminium, organiser of the 21st Arab International Aluminium Conference & Exhibition (ARABAL), has successfully secured more than 20 major sponsors that will be exhibiting at the upcoming event to be held in Muscat on November 7th – 8th. International and local Gold sponsors of the event include Oman Oil Company, world energy leader GE Power, Export Quebec supporting the Quebec’s Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation’s 2015 – 2025 Aluminium Development Strategy and global mining giant Rio Tinto.

Attracting over 500 delegates from 23 different countries, the theme of this year’s conference will centre on ‘Driving Strategic Growth across the Global Aluminium Industry’ and will feature a high-profile exhibition that will be open to the public throughout the event. Silver sponsors who will also be exhibiting at the event, include German-based manufacturers SGL Group, global minerals and metals processing technology provider Outotec, and Oman headquartered construction group Special Technical Services LLC.

Dana Geadah, Communications Manager of Sohar Aluminium and member of the ARABAL Steering Committee, commented, “ARABAL is attracting a great deal of attention this year as the event promises to bring the  industry’s leading figures to speak at the conference. This region is now seen as a key aluminium hub, with the Middle East and North Africa’s production of primary aluminium currently accounting for 10% of global production levels. The aluminium industry is now considered one of the key economic drivers for the Gulf region as it diversifies away from oil dependent industries.”

Geadah added, “In conjunction with the conference, an international exhibition will also be open to delegates and visitors. Exhibitors will include key investors, major international suppliers, and manufacturers from a broad spectrum within the aluminium industry. It will also be an ideal opportunity for delegates and visitors to network with the aluminium industry’s most senior executives, as well as representatives from a cross section of global industries. In addition to the various private workshops, meetings and sessions, delegates have been invited to attend a private tour of Sohar Aluminium’s smelter and its facilities.”

ARABAL is the premium platform for the aluminium industries in the Middle East and North Africa. It is the only conference supported and hosted on a rotational basis by the primary aluminium manufacturers in the region, who collectively produced 5,229,115 tonnes of aluminium in 2016. Since its inauguration in 1981, ARABAL has become an event of international repute, bringing together industry leaders from around the world to discuss current issues as well as explore businesses and investment opportunities in the region.

Combining a strategic conference with an international exhibition, ARABAL represents a unique platform to showcase the Middle East’s growing role as an industrial powerhouse.
