    Monday, the giant of America aluminum---Alcoa offered 33 billion U.S dollars and maliciously attempted to purchase its rival Alcan. In this prosperous global market driven by Asian demand, Alcan ranks second both in production and marketing.


    Alcoa has equipments and 123,000 employees in 44 countries. It manufactures crude aluminum, aluminum products and finished products, which are mainly used in aviation, automobile, packaging and transportation.


    Its products cover the range of beverage cans, kitchen packaging materials, flow trailer, and the wings, as well as top metal plate for a large open-air stadium in the capital of Qatar, Doha.


    Alcoa said 2006 was the best year ever, with a 19% rise in sale to 304 billion dollars in Unite States, and double profit to 26 billion dollars.


     Another performance which attracted people’s attention was the 30% rise of aluminum price, and the output of the company continue remains at 3.5 billion tons.


       The sale of primary aluminum was about 100 billion dollars, and the sale of manufactures was 200 billion dollars.


    The company wishes to get profit from strong global demand, and such hope is from what the CEO Alain Belda said, to double the global demand to 606 billion tons in 2020 to 31.6 million tons in 2005.


    2020, in Asia, particularly in china, the consumption of aluminum is 31 million tons, accounting for over 60% of global consumption.
