China aluminium output in April rises 21.5% YoY; production in Henan drops marginally

According to the first-hand production data released by Shanghai Metals Market, April aluminium output (preliminary) rose 21.5 per cent year-on-year to stand at 5695 thousand tonnes, March aluminium output (final data) was estimated at 3112 thousand tonnes, and the first three month cumulative production reached 12 million tonnes, up 22 per cent year-on-year.
Henan, one of the five major aluminium producing regions in China, produced 728,7000 tonnes of aluminium during the first three months of 2017. The Q1 production fell 3.34 per cent year-on-year; yet accounted for 8.89 per cent of the country’s total aluminium output for the period.
China’s total aluminium output increased 10.9 per cent year-on-year during the period under review.
Henan’s alumina production surged to reach 3.27 million tonnes in Q1 2017 rising at 11.43 per cent rate over the same period previous year.
Aluminium semis output in the province rose 10.69 per cent from the corresponding period previous year to total at 2.95 million tonnes. The volume accounted for 21.28 per cent of the total Chinese aluminium semis output for the period under review.
