DJ Chalco Pres: No Plans Now On Big Aluminum Output Cut

Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd. (ACH), or Chalco, has no big plans now to cut production of the metal despite falling prices, President Luo Jianchuan said Monday.

"As some domestic (private) smelters are in red, it's reasonable for them to adjust their output levels," Luo told reporters on the sidelines of the 13th World Aluminum Conference organized by metals consultancy CRU.

However, it's hard to predict by how much the domestic smelters will cut output, Luo added.

Luo also said the current global financial crisis will impact aluminum consumption, but more time is needed to access how big the impact will be.
