According to Mr Sun Qian deputy secretary general of magnesium branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association China may export less magnesium products in the rest of this year.

He said that the export volume of magnesium products climbed 32.3 % in the first half. He added that oversea demand for magnesium products will not increase by large margin and is likely to decline on deteriorating economic situation.

Export of key magnesium products increased 20 % in the first half despite that China lifted the export tariff of magnesium ingot; magnesium alloy and magnesium scrap by 10 % at the beginning of the year. Export of three types of primary magnesium products, magnesium ingot, magnesium alloy and magnesium powder and granules, accounting for 97.6% of the total export.

The reason for the growth of magnesium products export is that domestic suppliers and oversea buyers stocked inventory ahead of time for June to September in case of delivery failure.
