The world’s third largest aluminum industrial enterprise—Aluminum Corporation of China, will realize no sewage release in 2008.
Aluminum production has very complex technic processes, resulting in generating various industrial wastewater, the component and nature of which are quite different. The vice-president Liu Xiangming said that since its founding, the company continuously increases the investment in sewage treatment, improves sewage treatment facilities, and achieves the same pace of environmental protection and business development. By the end of 2006, Aluminum Corporation of China have already built 18 industrial sewage disposal systems.
In 2006, the total consumption of water in Aluminum Corporation of China was 2.23 billion tons, including 184 billion tons of new water. The consumption of new water in alumina factory declined from 7.4 tons in 2001 to 4.89 tons.
Aluminum Corporation of China is the world’s third largest aluminum industrial enterprise, as well as the largest scale non-ferrous metal industry in China. It has 25 subordinate enterprises, which were established from 2001 to 2006 respectively Source:
