The Government of Canada has granted $60,000 in financial assistance to the Aluminium Valley Society (AVS), in the form of a non-repayable contribution, under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP). Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) announced the grant on October 19. The financial aid will help the AVS to organize the 6th Aluminium Valley in Business Trade Show in Saguenay on May 23 and 24, 2017.
It is a part of the government’s effort to support innovation in order to create new technologies and new management models.
Commenting on the grant, Mr Bains said, "My government firmly believes that Canada is fundamentally a nation of innovators. Our ability to innovate will help us create jobs, stimulate our growth and improve the quality of life of Canadians. That is why I am proud that CED is supporting the Aluminium Valley Society in bringing together various innovation players in this industry, which plays a critical role globally."
This aluminium event will provide a platform for approximately 100 business entities in the regional aluminium sector to display and improve their skills, introduce their latest innovations to the visitors, create new partnerships with potential businesses and forge ties with contractors and suppliers. The event will also offer an opportunity to various industry players like SMEs, research centres, academic institutions and supporting organizations to collaborate and work together for their individual betterment and that of the aluminium industry. Together these players can understand market diversification potential, identify new opportunities and expand their client base.
The 6th edition of the trade show is co-organized by the AVS, in cooperation with the Trans-Al Network, the Centre québécois de recherche et de développement de l'aluminium (CQRDA) and Rio Tinto.
